Up Your Game and Your Muscle
Has your current workout become a boring routine? Have you reached a fitness plateau? Whether it’s strength or muscle you’re looking to acquire, I’ve got you covered!
Understanding the function and structure of muscle can help you grasp the science behind muscle growth. Every single movement we make is controlled by muscles, no matter how big or small, from blinking to jogging.
The three main muscle types consist of skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscles.
Skeletal muscles are attached to bones by tendons which produce skeletal movements in the body.
Smooth muscles cannot be controlled consciously and are under the control of the autonomic nervous system.
Cardiac muscle forms the middle tissue layer and the bulk of the heart.
Weightlifting is the most common form of resistance training to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, which leads to muscle growth.
Muscle growth is essentially the result of damage to the muscle. As the body naturally repairs damage, growth occurs. However, over time, muscles become resistant to damage.
Various techniques have been identified to help improve athletic ability as simply lifting weights or spending hours on the treadmill won’t accomplish your fitness goals.
Science supports the following aspects for maximizing results:
-burst or interval training
Any one of these elements of your fitness routine can enhance or hinder your workouts!
Do you believe the more you sweat the more you burn? This is a common myth! While for some, sweat can be associated with increased heart rate, sweat isn’t a true indicator of workout intensity. The true key is to make sure you are reaching your optimal heart rate range.
Another myth is that you need to sweat for 45 minutes for the full health benefit. Even just 10 minutes a day at your maximum heart rate target can help you reach your fitness goal!
